Antibacterial Property of Different Medicinal Plants: Ocimum sanctum, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Xanthoxylum armatum and Origanum majorana

TL;DR: From the screening experiment, Origanum majorana showed the best antibacterial activity; hence this plant can be further subjected to isolation of the therapeutic antimicrobials and pharmacological evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extended spectrum β-lactamase producing uropathogenic Escherichia coli and the correlation of biofilm with antibiotics resistance in Nepal.

TL;DR: A weak positive correlation between biofilm and ESBL production is presented in which biofilm producing UPEC harbors both pgaA and pgaC genes responsible for biofilm formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of multiplex PCR using MPB64 and IS6110 primers for rapid diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis

TL;DR: Evaluating the Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, using primers directed against the insertion sequence IS6110 and MPB64 gene for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), found it to have high sensitivity and could be used for the early detection of TBM in CSF samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency and hemoglobinopathy in South Western Region Nepal: a boon or burden.

TL;DR: The study highlighted sickle cell disorder (SCD) and β-TT as the most common hemoglobinopathy coexisting with G6PD deficiency, which can cause massive hemolysis which may exacerbate the condition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of blaNDM-1 gene among the carbapenem resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from a children’s hospital in Nepal

TL;DR: Results of this study demonstrated the presence of blaNDM-1 gene among the carbapenemase producing E. coli and K. pneumoniae isolates to be 50% and 66.6%,respectively.
