Synthesis method, antibacterial and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles for azo dyes in wastewater treatment: A review

The present work focuses on the synthesis, characterization and photocatalytic activity of a nanosized Fe-doped TiO2 photocatalyst. The samples were synthesized by the sol–gel method and characterized by using techniques such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), UV–visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR). The powder XRD spectra revealed that the synthesized samples are pure and crystalline in nature and show a tetragonal anatase phase of TiO2. The Raman spectroscopy also confirmed the formation of an anatase phase structure in both pure and Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs). The UV–visible and PL spectra illustrated the red shift in Fe-doped TiO2 NPs. The FTIR spectra indicated the vibrational band of the Ti–O lattice. The photocatalytic experimental results demonstrate that Fe-doped TiO2 NPs effectively degrade MB under visible-light illumination. Interestingly, the prepared TiO2 NPs with a dopant concentration of 3.0 mole% showed the maximum photocatalytic activity under investigation.

The degradation of organic pollutants in the aqueous medium using semiconductor photocatalysts has become an attractive method for detoxification of water. ZnO is an efficient photocatalyst with few disadvantages such as: (i) the wide band gap (3.37 eV); and (ii) the fast recombination rate of photogenerated electron–hole pairs which limit the photodegradation efficiency of bare ZnO photocatalyst. Herein, we report a strategy for the suppression of electron–hole pair recombination rate, extention the absorption edge in the visible region and enhancement of photocatalytic efficiency by introducing rare earth metal as a dopant. We present the fabrication of pure and Er/Nd doped ZnO semiconductor photocatalysts with hexagonal wurtzite structure using sol gel method. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by standard analytical techniques, such as XRD, SEM-EDS, TEM, FTIR, XPS, BET, TGA, DTA, DSC, PL, DRS and UV-vis spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of pure and doped ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) was investigated by studying the degradation of two different organic dyes as a function of irradiation time. The results indicate that the photocatalytic activity of doped ZnO was found to be higher than bare ZnO for degradation of dyes. This may be attributed predominantly due to decrease in the recombination rate by the efficient charge separation of photoinduced electron–hole pair as inferred from PL studies. The results also indicate that parameters such as amount of photocatalyst dose, initial pH and different quenchers play a significant role for degradation of model dyes. The synthesized photocatalyst was recycled four times for degradation of dye with very little decrease in efficiency. Interestingly, comparative in vitro antibacterial and anticancer potential of the pure and Er/Nd doped ZnO NPs were also investigated against human pathogenic bacterial strains and various human cancer cell lines. The result of our study clearly revealed that Nd doped ZnO NPs showed better antibacterial as well as anticancer efficacy as compared to pure and Er doped ZnO NPs.

Facile fabrication of highly efficient modified ZnO photocatalyst with enhanced photocatalytic, antibacterial and anticancer activity

The current investigation reports bactericidal and cytotoxicity evaluation of bio-enzymatically formulated nano‑gold (AuNPs) using physiologically significant enzyme β galactosidase. The AuNPs were characterized using spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. The anti-pathogenic efficacy of AuNPs as a potential drug was observed against five contagious bacterial strains of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, group B Streptococcus, Acinetobacter baumannii and Klebsiella pneumonia. The estimation of minimum bactericidal concentration, minimum inhibitory concentration, scanning electron microscopy and fluorescence microscopy conclude enhanced bactericidal effects of green AuNPs. The cytotoxicity of AuNPs against human cervical (HeLa), breast (MCF-7) and liver (Hep 3B) cancer cells was evaluated. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay was adopted to analyze antitumor potential of AuNPs. Cell nuclear morphology associated with apoptosis after treatment with NPs was assessed against MCF-7 cells through 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole staining. Apoptotic activity of AuNPs was determined against HeLa cells using annexin V/ propidium iodide double staining by flow cytometric analysis. The AuNPs exhibited excellent efficacy against these cell lines and future prospects of usage as potential nano-drugs and drug delivery vehicles.

In the past few years, the crude oil industry has seen so much volatility in terms of crude oil prices in the international oil market. In this research paper, we explore many aspects of the overall crude oil industry and its impact on the Indian economy, it is crucial to have an idea about price movements in order to ascertain demand and supply of crude oil. In this research paper researchers focus on the Box- Jenkins approach along with normal regression model required used for forecasting crude oil prices and its significant impact on the Indian economy (GDP) since LPG reforms post 1991 through timeseries data available for the specific time period from 1991 to 2018. ARIMA model based on the Box-Jenkins approach is further evidence to check the feasibility of time series data and on the basis of that forecasting of the future trends of crude oil prices are shown. The historical crude oil prices predict future trends of crude oil prices and results on the basis of the proposed model are found to be very conclusive and genuine. Before applying the ARIMA model normality of data is assured followed by unit-roots are checked to make residuals stationary at a desired level of significance in order to have significant forecasting through the ARIMA model used in this research.

The Bearing on Indian Frugality and Predicting of Average Crude Oil Rates since 1991 – A Study

Abstract The study aimed to analyze the perceptions of FinTech in the Middle East region, specifically its usage, and performance. To attain this objective, a strategy employed on surveys as the primary data acquisition method was implemented. The survey was conducted between November 2021 and February 2022, which allowed the researcher to gather comprehensive data from respondents during this period. In order to ensure the descriptive nature of the study, cross-sectional research was employed in its design. This design allowed the researcher to gather data at a single point in time, which was appropriate for the scope of this study. The researcher utilized a questionnaire during the inquiry to elicit information for data collection purposes. The questionnaire was designed to include semi-structured questions, which allowed the respondents to provide detailed information on their perceptions of FinTech. This study employed a survey-based technique to analyze the perceptions of FinTech in the Middle East region. Using a cross-sectional design and semi-structured questions allowed the researcher to achieve the descriptive nature of the research. Additionally, cross-tab analysis and SPSS provided an in-depth understanding of the data collected. The findings from the analysis suggest that FinTech enhances the performance of financial institutions and that digital banking is the best feature of FinTech across all customer groups.
