Energy storage: Applications and challenges

TL;DR: In this paper, an updated review of the state of technology and installations of several energy storage technologies were presented, and their various characteristics were analyzed, including their storage properties, current state in the industry and feasibility for future installation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Renewable Energy Potential and National Policy Directions for Sustainable Development in Morocco

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the renewable energy potentials and the national strategy currently underway to pursue low-carbon opportunities in Morocco, and the enormous potential identified in the Moroccan renewable energy sector with favorable CO2 mitigation draw optimistic expectations to build sustained low carbon economy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Paraffin wax mixtures as phase change materials

TL;DR: In this article, the phase change process of the binary mixture takes place over a temperature range and the temperature range depends on both the heating rate and the mixture composition, and the proposed study shows also that for the same concentration of tetradecane and using various heating rates, they will be able to predict the solidus and liquidus temperature of binary mixture from DSC curves.
Journal ArticleDOI

PCM storage for solar DHW: From an unfulfilled promise to a real benefit

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the conditions under which such an absence of advantage of the use of phase change materials (PCMs) in a solar-based domestic hot water (DHW) system were obtained in order to propose some possibilities of improvement for demonstrating the interest in using PCMs in solar based DHW systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical modeling and optimization of thermal stratification in solar hot water storage tanks for domestic applications: CFD study

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of flat plate positions within a vertical storage tank, which operates during the charging mode, on the thermal stratification and to conduct the possible performance enhancements to achieve.
