TL;DR: In this article, atomic force microscopy and molecular mechanics simulations are used to investigate the effects of van der Waals interactions on the atomic structure of adsorbed carbon nanotubes, and the conditions under which the structure of a nanotube will adjust to the topography of the substrate are defined.

Manipulation of carbon nanotubes and properties of nanotube field-effect transistors and rings
TL;DR: Using the tip of an atomic force microscope, this paper manipulated individual carbon nanotubes on a patterned substrate, and fabricated model nanodevices, including a room temperature field effect transistor with a channel only 1.6 nm wide, as well as singleelectron transistors.
