Deformation-Induced Phase Transition and Superstructure Formation in Poly(ethylene terephthalate)
Daisuke Kawakami,Benjamin S. Hsiao,Christian Burger,Shaofeng Ran,Carlos A. Ávila-Orta,Igors Sics,Takeshi Kikutani,Karl I. Jacob,Benjamin Chu +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the deformation conditions involved uniaxial stretching of quenched PET films at a temperature just below its glass transition temperature (Tg), where a notable “plastic deformation” stage was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization on mixed-crystal structure and properties of poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) biodegradable fibers
TL;DR: In this article, the structure development and properties of the as-spun fibers were investigated through birefringence, WAXD, SAXS, DSC and tensile test.
Journal ArticleDOI
High‐speed melt spinning of bicomponent fibers: Mechanism of fiber structure development in poly(ethylene terephthalate)/polypropylene system
Takeshi Kikutani,J. Radhakrishnan,Sadaaki Arikawa,Akira Takaku,Norimasa Okui,Xia Jin,Fumio Niwa,Yosuke Kudo +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a semiquantitative numerical simulation was performed to clarify the mutual interaction between the two components in bicomponent spinning, and the simulation results obtained using the Newtonian fluid model showed that the solidification stress in the PET component was enhanced while that of the PP component was decreased in comparison with the corresponding single component spinning.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of Stereocomplex Crystal of Polylactide in High-Speed Melt Spinning and Subsequent Drawing and Annealing Processes
TL;DR: In this article, high-speed melt spinning of racemate polylactide (r-PLA) was performed up to the take-up velocity of 7.5 km/min.
Journal ArticleDOI
Melt-Spun Fibers for Textile Applications
TL;DR: In this article, a review of polymers, additives, and processes used in melt spinning is presented, and fundamental questions regarding fiber morphologies, structure-property relationships, as well as flow and draw instabilities are addressed.
