A battery box housing a battery is mounted between left and right side frames extending in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle body so that the battery box is offset to a left side of the vehicle body, and an intake duct and an exhaust duct for cooling air for cooling the battery are connected to an end of the battery box on a right side of the vehicle body. Therefore, it is possible not only to protect the battery between the left and right frames from a shock caused upon a side collision, but also to ensure a space for disposition of the intake duct and the exhaust duct while ensuring a volume of the battery box to the maximum. Moreover, the battery box is connected at its left and right ends to the left and right side frames.

An efficient thermal management system (100) that utilizes a single heat exchanger (133) is provided. A refrigeration subsystem (103) cools the heat exchanger (133). A first coolant loop (139) in thermal communication with the heat exchanger (133) is used to cool the energy storage system (137). A second coolant loop (151) corresponding to the HVAC subsystem (107) is also in thermal communication with the heat exchanger (133). Preferably a third coolant loop (109) corresponding to the drive motor cooling subsystem (101) is coupleable to the HVAC coolant loop (151), thus providing an efficient means of providing heat to the HVAC subsystem (107).

Electric vehicle thermal management system

A dual mode, thermal management system for use in a vehicle is provided. At a minimum, the system includes a first coolant loop in thermal communication with a battery system, a second coolant loop in thermal communication with at least one drive train component (e.g., electric motor, power electronics, inverter), and a dual mode valve system that provides means for selecting between a first mode where the two coolant loops operate in parallel, and a second mode where the two coolant loops operate in series.

More specifically, the main housing is configured to house the main relay box and first battery modules therein, and is fixed to the vehicle body of the electric vehicle.

A vehicular air conditioning apparatus includes a casing constituted by respective air passages. The casing has a vent opening and a defroster opening at an upper portion thereof. The vent opening is disposed on a forward side of a vehicle with respect to the defroster opening. A pair of defroster ducts extend in lateral directions respectively from side portions of the defroster opening, and center vent ducts are disposed in a straight line fashion from the vent opening and oriented rearwardly of the vehicle between the pair of the defroster ducts. The center vent ducts open only in the vehicle compartment. In a bi-level mode, a third front passage on the downstream side of the evaporator extends upwardly in a straight line fashion.

As a result, the rigidity of the blade is improved, and the resonance limit is changed in the increasing direction, while the frequency of the karman's vortex can be changed in the height direction H. Consequently, the resonance of the blade can be prevented, and a noise can be reduced.

Centrifugal type multi-vane fan

The centrifugal fan (1) has air entering at the ends of the drum-shaped fan assembly. The sides of the drum are made up of curved blades and the air flows past the blades (2,3) in the radial direction. The fan is driven by an electric motor (6) which is at least partially housed inside the drum-shaped fan. There is a drive ring (4) which separates the two sets of fan blades and which is connected to the output shaft of the motor. The drive ring is situated nearer the bottom of the fan drum than the top, and the fan blades in the bottom section are of narrower chord than the fan blades in the top section and coincide with the spaces in the top blades. There is a housing sheet (7) at the top and bottom of the fan, and the motor projects out of the housing aperture at the bottom.

As for the air flow inside the air conditioner unit 1, the air introduced into the lower wind passage 14 passes through the coolant evaporator 2 and forms cold wind, and the air introduced into the upper wind passage 13 passes through the heater core 3 and heat-exchanges with the heater core 3 and forms warm wind, which is mixed with the cold wind in a mixing chamber 4, and the temperature becomes proper. Therefore, the dimension of depth of a case for air conditioning can be reduced, and arrangement of other equipment for car is permitted.
