Identification of Hypericin as a Candidate Repurposed Therapeutic Agent for COVID-19 and Its Potential Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Activity
Aline R. Matos,Braulia C. Caetano,João Luiz de Almeida Filho,Jéssica Santa Cruz de Carvalho Martins,Michele Gabrielle Pacheco de Oliveira,Thiago das Chagas Sousa,Marco Aurélio Pereira Horta,Marilda M. Siqueira,Jorge H Fernandez +8 more
TL;DR: Hypericin, an important component of the Hypericum perforatum that presents antiviral and antitumoral properties, binds with high affinity to viral Mpro and RdRp and shows that Hypericin inhibited viral replication in a dose dependent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low prevalence of influenza A strains with resistance markers in Brazil during 2017–2019 seasons
Thiago das Chagas Sousa,Jéssica Santa Cruz de Carvalho Martins,Milene D. Miranda,Cristiana C. Garcia,Paola Cristina Resende,Cliomar Alves dos Santos,Maria do Carmo Debur,Rodrigo Ribeiro Rodrigues,Andrea Cony Cavalcanti,Tatiana Schäffer Gregianini,Felipe Campos de Melo Iani,Felicidade Mota Pereira,Sandra Fernandes,Jessylene de Almeida Ferreira,Katia Correa de Oliveira Santos,Fernando Couto Motta,David Brown,Walquiria Aparecida Ferreira de Almeida,Marilda M. Siqueira,Aline R. Matos +19 more
TL;DR: A low prevalence of Brazilian IAV strains with NAI resistance markers is shown, in accordance with what is reported worldwide, indicating that NAIs still remain an option for the treatment of influenza infections in Brazil, however, surveillance of influenza resistance should be strengthened in the country.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Influenza viruses with reduced susceptibility to antivirals in Brazil: surveillance during the pandemic period
Thiago das Chagas Sousa,Jéssica Santa Cruz de Carvalho Martins,Braulia C. Caetano,Aline R. Matos +3 more
TL;DR: The International Symposium on Immunobiologicals (ISIIS) as mentioned in this paper was co-organized and organizado by the Instituto de Tecnologia em Imunobiológicos (Bio-Manguinhos), da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz.
Journal ArticleDOI
Total Osteopontin and Its Isoform OPN4 Are Differently Expressed in Respiratory Samples during Influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 Infection and Progression
Jéssica Santa Cruz de Carvalho Martins,Thiago das Chagas Sousa,Maria de Lourdes Aguiar Oliveira,Etel Rodrigues Pereira Gimba,Marilda M. Siqueira,Aline R. Matos +5 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the transcriptional expression patterns of total OPN (tOPN) and its splicing isoforms (OPNa, OPNb, OPNa, OPNc, OPn4, and OPN5) in 176 respiratory secretion samples collected from human influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 cases and a group of 65 IAV-negative controls.
