Inhaled Nitric Oxide and Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn
Jesse D. Roberts,Jeffrey R. Fineman,Frederick C. Morin,Philip W. Shaul,Stephen Rimar,Michael D. Schreiber,Richard A. Polin,Maurice S. Zwass,Michael M. Zayek,Ian Gross,Michael A. Heymann,Warren M. Zapol,Kajori G. Thusu,Thomas M. Zellers,Mark E. Wylam,Alan M. Zaslavsky +15 more
TL;DR: Inhaled nitric oxide improves systemic oxygenation in infants with persistent pulmonary hypertension and may reduce the need for more invasive treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of surgical, stent, and balloon angioplasty treatment of native coarctation of the aorta: an observational study by the CCISC (Congenital Cardiovascular Interventional Study Consortium).
Thomas J. Forbes,Dennis W. Kim,Wei Du,Daniel R. Turner,Ralf J. Holzer,Zahid Amin,Ziyad M. Hijazi,Abdolrahim Ghasemi,Jonathan J. Rome,David Nykanen,David Nykanen,Evan M. Zahn,Evan M. Zahn,Collin G. Zellers +26 more
TL;DR: At short-term and intermediate follow-up, stent and surgical patients achieved superior hemodynamic and integrated aortic arch imaging outcomes compared with BA patients, although they were more likely to require a planned reintervention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enalapril Does Not Enhance Exercise Capacity in Patients After Fontan Procedure
TL;DR: It is concluded that enalapril administration for 10 weeks does not alter abnormal systemic vascular resistance, resting cardiac index, diastolic function, or exercise capacity in patients who have undergone a Fontan procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stenting of Aortic Coarctation: Acute, Intermediate, and Long-Term Results of a Prospective Multi-Institutional Registry—Congenital Cardiovascular Interventional Study Consortium (CCISC)
Ralf J. Holzer,Shakeel Qureshi,Abdolrahim Ghasemi,Julie A. Vincent,Horst Sievert,Daniel H. Gruenstein,Howard Weber,Luis Alday,Alejandro Peirone,Thomas M. Zellers,John P. Cheatham,Michael Slack,Jonathan Rome +12 more
TL;DR: Even with successful initial stent therapy, patients continue to require long‐term follow‐up and have associated long-term morbidity, relating to aortic wall complications, systemic hypertension, recurrent obstruction as well as need for repeat intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxygen modulates endothelium-derived relaxing factor production in fetal pulmonary arteries
TL;DR: It is indicated that oxygen selectively modulates EDRF production and endothelium-dependent relaxation in ovine fetal pulmonary arteries and the effect of oxygen on pulmonary artery EDRf production may be specific to that vascular bed.
