Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus testing in patients with hepatitis B and C infection.
TL;DR: Although HBV and HCV have clear epidemiological links with HIV, this study shows that a high percentage of these patients are not being tested, and some of the factors associated with lack of testing were identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving Provider Adoption With Adaptive Clinical Decision Support Surveillance: An Observational Study
Sundas Khan,Safiya Richardson,Andrew Liu,Vinodh Mechery,Lauren McCullagh,Andy Schachter,Salvatore Pardo,Thomas McGinn +7 more
TL;DR: A tracking mechanism for monitoring trigger and adoption rates of a complex CDS tool based on the Wells criteria for pulmonary embolism and Adaptive modifications based on user feedback may increase targeted CDS with lower trigger rates, reducing alert fatigue and increasing provider adoption.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formative assessment and design of a complex clinical decision support tool for pulmonary embolism.
Sundas Khan,Lauren McCullagh,Anne Press,Manish Kharche,Andy Schachter,Salvatore Pardo,Thomas McGinn +6 more
TL;DR: Several factors to consider when designing CDS tools are highlighted, including formative assessment of EHR functionality and clinical environment workflow, focus groups and key informative interviews to incorporate providers’ perceptions of CDS and workflow integration and/or the demonstration of proposed workflows through wireframes to help providers visualise design concepts.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Electronic Adherence Measurement Intervention to Reduce Clinical Inertia in the Treatment of Uncontrolled Hypertension: The MATCH Cluster Randomized Clinical Trial
Ian M. Kronish,Nathalie Moise,Thomas McGinn,Yan Quan,William F. Chaplin,Benjamin David Gallagher,Karina W. Davidson +6 more
TL;DR: Providing clinicians with electronically-measured antihypertensive adherence reports reduces inertia in the management of uncontrolled hypertension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tips for teachers of evidence-based medicine: making sense of decision analysis using a decision tree.
TL;DR: These teaching tips introduce clinical learners to decision analysis in a fashion aimed to illustrate principles of clinical reasoning and how patient values can be actively incorporated into complex decision making.
