A display apparatus includes an image processor which processes an image to display an image content; a display unit which displays thereon an image content that is processed by the image processor; and a controller which displays a user interface (UI) menu including a plurality of UI items to search the image content, as one of a two-dimensional (2D) layout by which the plurality of UI items are arranged in a 2D manner, and a three-dimensional (3D) layout by which the plurality of UI items are arranged in a 3D manner , and changes displaying the one of the layouts to display the other of the layouts according to a user's command while maintaining a continuity of the arrangement of the plurality of UI items. Accordingly, search for an image content can be efficiently performed by using a UI menu.

Display apparatus and control method thereof

The present invention provides a method for organizing user provided information being available in a mobile terminal device with meta-information for allowing retrieving of the user provided information and a device being capable to perform the method. The user provided information is obtained in consequence on any user operation against the mobile terminal device and context information is obtained which is associated with the User provided information. The meta-information is obtained from the context information and assigned to the user provided information. The user provided information and the meta-information is stored in a history storage in order to establish an information history functionality. Further, the method for organizing user provided information employs calendar information for obtaining meta-information. The calendar information is obtained from an electronic calendar implemented in the mobile terminal device. The calendar information is matched with user provided information to obtain the meta-information. Further, the method for organizing user provided information is adapted to organize user provided audio information. The user provided audio information is obtained, recorded and stored. During the recording additional user provided information and context information relating to the recording operation is obtained. The meta-information comprising information about the additional user provided information and the context information. Further, the method for organizing user provided information is adapted to organize User provided audio information by embedding meta-information into the User provided audio information. The embedding is based on a set of code bases representing a plurality of coding symbols and the set of code bases is adapted to enable a mapping of the meta-information into the a plurality of coding symbols. The user provided audio information and the mapped meta-information is combined by embedding the mapped meta-information into the user provided audio information.

Method and device for organizing user provided information with meta-information

A location context-aware mobile system (104, 108) determines the location of a mobile device (102) and updates a user interface (501) based on the location of the device. By using the location of the mobile device to reduce the amount of information required to be entered by a user in a business process application, the system increases the feasibility of providing business process applications on mobile devices such as mobile telephones (102).

Integrating geographical contextual information into mobile entreprise applications

A system creates filters and provides tasks based on a geographic location associated with each task. The geographic location may be in one of several types of coordinate formats, and determined by the actual user location when the task is created of input associated with a desired location. When a user requests tasks for a specified geographic location, the user's tasks are filtered by a particular geographic location associated with the request. The filter may allow tasks that match the location and are within a threshold distance of the location. Tasks having a geographical location that are outside the threshold distance from the location are not provided. When managing tasks from a mobile device, the geographic location can be automatically determined by the mobile device. When managing tasks from a non-mobile device, the geographical location may be received or derived from user input.

Recommending actions based on context

Integrating contextual information into mobile enterprise applications

Building web applications for mobile and other non-desktop devices using established methods often requires a tremendous development effort. One of the major challenges is to find sound software engineering approaches enabling the cost efficient application development for multiple devices of varying technical characteristics. A new approach is to single author web content in a device independent markup language, which gets then adapted to meet the special characteristics of the accessing device. This paper describes our approach to single authoring, which was developed in the course a large European research project. The project has developed a device-independent language profile based on XHTML 2.0 and implemented a compliant rendering engine. We focus on layout and pagination capabilities of the RIML (Renderer Independent Markup Language) and show how authors can be assisted by development tools supporting device independent authoring.

Integrated development environment IDE (999), method and computer system for developing user interface documents. An editor (104) is used for editing a user interface document. An adaptation engine (105) generates device class specific representations of the user interface document. Each device class specific representation refers to a respective device class. Device class dependent tools (120) of the IDE (999) are used for generating device class specific information and providing it to the author. Device class specific information can be information about the complexity of the user interface by device class provided by a complexity indicator (121), information about how many pages are generated for which device class provided by a device class dependent view (122) or information about the layout for various device classes provided by a frames layouting view (124).

Method and computer system for document authoring

A system and method for segmentation of web pages is provided. In one embodiment, the invention is a method. The method includes receiving a request for a web page. The method also includes splitting the web page into displayable sections. The method further includes serving a first section of the web page. The method may also include serving a second section of the web page. The method may further include weighting content of the web page. Also, the method may involve content weighted based on a heuristic. Similarly, the method may include content weighted based on a profile for a target device. Additionally, the method may involve the profile for the target device being supplied by a manufacturer. Moreover, the method may involve content weighted based on information from a target device. Similarly, the method may involve querying the target device for information.

Segmentation of web pages

Multi device service provision is a challenging problem for information service providers. To support the diverse set of existing and future devices services have to adapt the contents to the capabilities of the different devices. In this paper we present research efforts aiming at the development of system support for automated content adaptation to different devices. We especially target the generic description and automated adaptation of web-based dialogs. We introduce an XML-based Dialog Description Language (DDL) enabling device independent description of dialogs. It makes up the basis for the automated adaptation. A fragmentation algorithm provides for automated decomposition of dialogs into dialog fragments that fit device specific resource limits. The feasability of our approach is proven by our Java-based adaptation framework, presented at the end of this paper. KeywordsMulti device platform, Adaptation framework, XML.
