Journal ArticleDOI

Quantification of network structural dissimilarities

TL;DR: The measure proposed here can identify and quantify structural topological differences that have a practical impact on the information flow through the network, such as the presence or absence of critical links that connect or disconnect connected components.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing diversity in multiplex networks.

TL;DR: The proposed framework is suitable for large multiplex structures, which are constituted by a set of elements represented as nodes, which have different types of interactions, represented as layers, and allows identifying the most relevant components, based on their contribution to a global diversity value.
Journal ArticleDOI

Information theory perspective on network robustness

TL;DR: This work proposes a dynamical definition of network robustness based on Information Theory, that considers measurements of the structural changes caused by failures of the network's components, and finds that distributions based on distances are more consistent in capturing network structural deviations, as better reflect the consequences of the failures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulating the dynamics of scale-free networks via optimization.

TL;DR: This work proposes a model able to quantify and reproduce several characteristics of a given network, by using the square root of the Jensen-Shannon divergence in combination with the mean degree and the clustering coefficient, and shows that the methodology was able to mimic the test-networks.
Book ChapterDOI

A Review on Network Robustness from an Information Theory Perspective

TL;DR: A probabilistic approach already showed useful in graph comparisons when representing the network structure as a set of probability distributions, and, together with the Jensen-Shannon divergence, allows to quantify dissimilarities between graphs.
