Electron Transfer and Singlet Oxygen Mechanisms in the Photooxygenation of Dibutyl Sulfide and Thioanisole in MeCN Sensitized by N-Methylquinolinium Tetrafluoborate and 9,10-Dicyanoanthracene. The Probable Involvement of a Thiadioxirane Intermediate in Electron Transfer Photooxygenations
Enrico Baciocchi,Tiziana Del Giacco,Fausto Elisei,Maria Francesca Gerini,Maurizio Guerra,and Andrea Lapi,Prisca Liberali +6 more
TL;DR: It was conclusively shown that with both sensitizers, the photooxygenations of PhSMe occur by an electron transfer (ET) mechanism, as no sulfoxidation was observed in the presence of benzoquinone (BQ), which is a trap for O2-*, NMQ*, and DCA-*.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proton-transfer reactions of alkylaromatic cation radicals. The effect of .alpha.-substituents on the kinetic acidity of p-methoxytoluene cation radicals
TL;DR: In this paper, the deprotonation rates of α-substituted p-methoxytoluene cation radicals (4-MeOPhCH 2 X.+ with X=H, Me, OAc, OH, OMe, Cl, CN, Ph, 4-MEOPh, and 4-meOPhCD 3.+ ) have been determined by a laser photolysis technique in MeCN.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxygenation of benzyldimethylamine by singlet oxygen. Products and mechanism.
TL;DR: A product study of the reaction of benzyldimethylamine with thermally and photochemically generated 1O2 in MeCN suggested that the products derive from an intracomplex hydrogen atom transfer in a reversibly formed charge-transfer complex.
Journal ArticleDOI
One-electron oxidation of alkylbenzenes in acetonitrile by photochemically produced nitrate radical: evidence for an inner-sphere mechanism
TL;DR: In this paper, the reaction between NO 3. and polyalkylbenzenes was studied using a 308-nm laser flash photolysis of cerium-(IV) ammonium nitrate in the presence of the alkyl benzenes in acetonitrile solution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidation of Aromatic Sulfides Photosensitized by TiO2 in CH3CN in the Presence of Ag2SO4. The Role of TiO2 in the Chemistry of Sulfide Radical Cations
Enrico Baciocchi,Tiziana Del Giacco,Marina I. Ferrero,Cesare Rol, ,‡ and,Giovanni V. Sebastiani +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a product study of the photooxidation of the aromatic sulfides 1−5 sensitized by TiO2 in MeCN, in the presence of Ag2SO4, has been carried out.
