A new taxonomy for describing and defining adherence to medications
Bernard Vrijens,Sabina De Geest,Sabina De Geest,Dyfrig A. Hughes,Kardas Przemyslaw,Jenny Demonceau,Todd M. Ruppar,Todd M. Ruppar,Fabienne Dobbels,E.A. Fargher,Val Morrison,Paweł Lewek,Michał Matyjaszczyk,Comfort Mshelia,Wendy Clyne,Jeffrey K Aronson,John Urquhart +16 more
TL;DR: In response to the proliferation of ambiguous or unquantifiable terms in the literature on medication adherence, this research has resulted in a new conceptual foundation for a transparent taxonomy, focused on promoting consistency and quantification in terminology and methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification and Assessment of Adherence-Enhancing Interventions in Studies Assessing Medication Adherence Through Electronically Compiled Drug Dosing Histories: A Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis
Jenny Demonceau,Todd M. Ruppar,Todd M. Ruppar,Paulus Kristanto,Dyfrig A. Hughes,E.A. Fargher,Przemyslaw Kardas,Sabina De Geest,Sabina De Geest,Fabienne Dobbels,Paweł Lewek,John Urquhart,Bernard Vrijens +12 more
TL;DR: Notwithstanding the statistical heterogeneity among the studies identified, and potential publication bias, the evidence from the meta-analysis suggests that EM-feedback and cognitive-educational interventions are potentially effective approaches to enhance patient adherence to medications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adherence to the immunosuppressive regimen in pediatric kidney transplant recipients: a systematic review.
Fabienne Dobbels,Todd M. Ruppar,S. De Geest,S. De Geest,Anneloes Decorte,R. Van Damme-Lombaerts,Richard N. Fine +6 more
TL;DR: Adherence to the immunosuppressive regimen in pediatric kidney transplant recipients and its role in morbidity and mortality is reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medication adherence outcomes of 771 intervention trials: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Vicki S. Conn,Todd M. Ruppar +1 more
TL;DR: It is documented that, although interventions can increase adherence, much room remains for improvement, and health care providers should focus intervention content on behavioral strategies, especially habit-based interventions, more so than cognitive strategies designed to change knowledge and beliefs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medication Adherence Interventions Improve Heart Failure Mortality and Readmission Rates: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Controlled Trials.
TL;DR: Medication adherence should be addressed in regular follow‐up visits with HF patients, and interventions to improve adhere should be a key part of HF self‐care programs.
