Journal ArticleDOI

Surface adsorption and micelle formation of surface active ionic liquids in aqueous solution.

TL;DR: It was found that both the pC20 and the Picmc values were somewhat lower than those for typical cationic surfactants, alkyltrimethylammonium bromides, and comparable to typical anionic surfactant, sodiumAlkyl sulfates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-aggregation behavior of fluorescent carbazole-tailed imidazolium ionic liquids in aqueous solutions.

TL;DR: Both the enhanced hydrophobicity and the pi-pi interaction due to the incorporation of carbazole groups contributed to the lower critical micelle concentration and higher micellar aggregation number, reflecting a strong capability of the designedcarbazole-tailed imidazolium ILs for the formation of micelle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aggregation Behavior of Polyoxyethylene (20) Sorbitan Monolaurate (Tween 20) in Imidazolium Based Ionic Liquids

TL;DR: The behavior of the thermodynamic parameters as a function of temperature, combined with the variation of (1)H NMR chemical shifts of the bmim (+) protons as afunction of the surfactant concentration, demonstrated that the aggregates formed at CAC 1 are nanodroplets of Tween 20 segregated from the solution phase, while those formed atCAC 2 are similar to the usual surfactants formed in aqueous solution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phase Behavior of an Aqueous Mixture of Octaethylene Glycol Dodecyl Ether Revealed by DSC, FT-IR, and 13C NMR Measurements

TL;DR: The phase behavior of an octaethylene glycol dodecyl ether (C12E8) was investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

13C NMR Study of Mesomorphic Phases Formed in Aqueous Mixtures of Heptaethylene Glycol Dodecyl Ether

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors applied 13C NMR to investigate the various phases formed in aqueous mixtures of heptaethylene glycol dodecyl ether (C12E7).
