On restricted context-free grammars

TL;DR: This paper proves that context-free grammars with a simpler restriction where only symbols to be rewritten are restricted are restricted, not the rules, in the sense that any rule rewriting the chosen nonterminal can be applied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient Liveness Assessment for Traffic States in Open, Irreversible, Dynamically Routed, Zone-Controlled Guidepath-Based Transport Systems

TL;DR: An extensive subclass of these traffic states, defined through the topology of an abstracting graphical representation of the “traffic state” concept, is identified, for which the corresponding problem of liveness assessment admits a polynomial solution, and the relevant algorithm is presented.

Improved Results on the Descriptional Complexity of Scattered Context Grammars

TL;DR: It is proved that every recursively enumerable language is generated by a scattered context grammar with no more than four nonterminals and three non-context-free productions.

Alternating Towers and Piecewise Testable Separators

TL;DR: The complexity of a particular method to compute a piecewise testable separator is investigated, it is shown that it is closely related to the height of maximal finite towers, and the upper and lower bounds with respect to the size of the given nondeterministic automata are provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Computation of Controllable and Coobservable Sublanguages in Decentralized Supervisory Control via Communication

TL;DR: This work constructs a controllable and coobservable sublanguage of the specification by using additional communications between supervisors and applies a fully decentralized computation of local supervisors to achieve the centralized optimal solution.
