Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple exon skipping and RNA circularisation contribute to the severe phenotypic expression of exon 5 dystrophin deletion

TL;DR: Supporting the bridging role of the dystrophin splicing machinery as active modulator between genotype (deletion mutation) and protein production, cell specific somatic exon skipping has been documented in skeletal muscle revertant fibres in DMD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Krill: a possible model for investigating the effects of ocean currents on the genetic structure of a pelagic invertebrate

TL;DR: Intraspecific data show that the Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) is characterized by weak genetic differentiation, whereas the northern krill is more structured showing discrete genetic pools, which can be explained, at least partly, by the oceanographic conditions in the areas inhabited by the two species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression profiling of skeletal muscle in young bulls treated with steroidal growth promoters

TL;DR: Comparing expression profiles of beef cattle muscle in animals treated with either Dex or Dex plus 17-beta estradiol (Estr) administered at subtherapeutic dosage, against untreated controls shows differences in the expression profile that will allow the development of indirect bio-markers to detect illegal Dex treatments in beef cattle using quantitative RT-PCR.
