Implementing Corporate Lean Programs: The Effect of Management Control Practices

TL;DR: This paper examined how management control practices relate to the implementation of a corporate lean program at the factory level and found that using dedicated teams to lead the lean program, developing and frequently reviewing lean-focused performance reports, and using non-financial rewards linked to lean implementation are favorably associated with more extensive implementation of lean practices in the factories.

What to Expect from a Corporate Lean Program

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that misplaced expectations of how quickly these programs can improve performance can make their implementation difficult and reduce their benefits, and they believe that if managers better understood the rates at which lean programs produce their improvements, then implementations would go more smoothly, leading to further increases in overall productivity.
