Effect of the chemical reaction and radiation absorption on the unsteady MHD free convection flow past a semi infinite vertical permeable moving plate with heat source and suction

An analysis is presented to investigate the effects of chemical reaction on unsteady free convective heat and mass transfer on a stretching surface in a porous medium. The governing partial differential equations have been transformed by a similarity transformation into a system of ordinary differential equations, which are solved numerically using an efficient tri-diagonal implicit finite-difference method. The results obtained show that the flow field is influenced appreciably by the presence of unsteadiness parameter, chemical reaction parameter, permeability parameter, and suction/injection parameter.

Similarity solution for unsteady heat and mass transfer from a stretching surface embedded in a porous medium with suction/injection and chemical reaction effects

The steady two-dimensional flow of an incompressible viscous and electrically conducting fluid over a non-linearly semi-infinite stretching sheet in the presence of a chemical reaction and under the influence of a magnetic field is analyzed. The equations governing the flow and concentration field are reduced to a system of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations. These non-linear differential equations are solved numerically by using the shooting method. The numerical results for the concentration field are presented through graphs.

An approximate solution for the steady laminar flow along a semi infinite horizontal plate in the presence of species concentration and chemical reaction has been obtained using Numerical Technique. It has been observed that in the presence of chemical reaction, (i) the velocity and concentration increase with decrease of Schmidt number Sc. (ii) Skin friction and rate of concentration decrease with the increase of chemical reaction parameter.

Effects of chemical reaction, heat and mass transfer on laminar flow along a semi infinite horizontal plate

An exact solution to the flow due to impulsive motion of an infinite vertical plate in its own plane in the presence of i) species concentration ii) constant heat flux at the plate iii) chemical reaction of first order, has been derived by the Laplace-transform technique. Velocity and concentration profiles are shown on graphs. It is observed that due to the presence of first order chemical reaction, the velocity decreases but the skin-friction being positive at large values of the chemical reaction parameter, there may not occur separation of the flow near the plate.

Flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past a continuously moving semi-infinite plate is studied by taking into account variable viscosity and variable temperature. Velocity and temperature profiles are shown graphically whereas the numerical values of the skin-friction and the rate of heat transfer are listed in a table. The effect of different parameters on the flow field is discussed.

An exact solution to the problem of flow past an impulsively started infinite vertical plate in the presence of a foreign mass and constant mass flux at the plate is presented by the Laplace-transform technique. The velocity, the temperature and the concentration profiles are shown on graphs. The skin-friction and the Sherwood number are also shown on graphs. The effects of different parameters likeG (the Grashof number),Gc (the modified Grashof number),Pr (the Prandtl number) andSc (the Schmidt number) are discussed.
