Abstract: We cast the quantum mechanics of multichannel systems in the broader mathematical framework of Hamiltonian phase space flow. This flow results from symplectic transformations that preserve antisymmetric products, namely, metric relations among alternative solutions with the same dynamics. This viewpoint affords new insight into recent successful phase-amplitude methods.
