Journal ArticleDOI
Perspectives on the potential of entomopathogenic fungi in biological control of ticks
TL;DR: The current study reviews recent literature on biological control of ticks, and comments on the relevance of these results to advancing the development of fungal biocontrol agents, including improving formulation offungal spores for use in tick control, and using entomopathogenic fungi in integrated pest (tick) management programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of oil-based formulations of acaripathogenic fungi to control Rhipicephalus microplus ticks under laboratory conditions
Mariana Guedes Camargo,Patrícia Silva Gôlo,Isabele da Costa Angelo,Wendell Marcelo de Souza Perinotto,Fillipe Araujo de Sá,Simone Quinelato,Vânia Rita Elias Pinheiro Bittencourt +6 more
TL;DR: Oil-based formulations of Metarhizium anisopliae sensu lato were more effective than aqueous suspensions against R. microplus eggs, larvae and engorged females, however, there was no significant difference between the three oil concentrations used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metarhizium anisopliae for controlling Rhipicephalus microplus ticks under field conditions.
Mariana Guedes Camargo,Michel Ruan dos Santos Nogueira,Allan Felipe Marciano,Wendell Marcelo de Souza Perinotto,Caio Junior Balduino Coutinho-Rodrigues,Fabio Barbour Scott,Isabele da Costa Angelo,Márcia Cristina de Azevedo Prata,Vânia Rita Elias Pinheiro Bittencourt +8 more
TL;DR: It is believed that the association of mineral oil with Metarril SP Organic product is effective in R. microplus tick control in field, and this association has potential to be used in strategic control programs of cattle tick.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic diversity among Brazilian isolates of Beauveria bassiana: comparisons with non‐Brazilian isolates and other Beauveria species
Éverton K. K. Fernandes,Éverton K. K. Fernandes,Aurea Maria Lage de Moraes,Raquel S. Pacheco,Drauzio E.N. Rangel,Mark P. Miller,Vânia Rita Elias Pinheiro Bittencourt,Donald W. Roberts +7 more
TL;DR: The genetic diversity of Beauveria bassiana was investigated by comparing isolates of this species to each other and to other Beauverian spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Updating the application of Metarhizium anisopliae to control cattle tick Rhipicephalus microplus (Acari: Ixodidae).
Walter O. Beys-da-Silva,Rafael Lopes da Rosa,Markus Berger,Caio Junior Balduino Coutinho-Rodrigues,Marilene Henning Vainstein,Augusto Schrank,Vânia Rita Elias Pinheiro Bittencourt,Lucélia Santi +7 more
TL;DR: Several aspects of bovine tick control related to the use of M. anisopliae are discussed, which is one of the most studied and viable alternative tools for effective tick control.
