Journal ArticleDOI
Families of Cobitoidea (Teleostei; Cypriniformes) as revealed from nuclear genetic data and the position of the mysterious genera Barbucca, Psilorhynchus, Serpenticobitis and Vaillantella.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Alps as barrier to dispersal in cold-adapted freshwater fishes? Phylogeographic history and taxonomic status of the bullhead in the Adriatic freshwater drainage.
TL;DR: The present analyses of sequences of the complete mitochondrial control region of 146 individuals from 43 localities showed no major differentiation between bullheads from both sides of the Alps, which suggests active transfers of haplotypes across this geographic barrier from the glacial cycles up to recent times.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular phylogeny of the freshwater fish family Cobitidae (Cypriniformes: Teleostei): delimitation of genera, mitochondrial introgression and evolution of sexual dimorphism.
TL;DR: The phylogenetic relationships of Cobitidae are presented as inferred from the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene and the nuclear gene RAG-1, showing a group of eight nominal genera forming a monophyletic lineage (northern clade) while all other clades inhabit South and Southeast Asia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular phylogeny of the Southeast Asian freshwater fish family botiidae (Teleostei: Cobitoidea) and the origin of polyploidy in their evolution
TL;DR: The results suggest that two species that were traditionally placed into the genus Yasuhikotakia form a monophyletic lineage with the species of Sinibotia, and a single polyploidisation event can be hypothesised to have occurred in the ancestral lineage leading to the Botiinae.
Journal ArticleDOI
Across Siberia and over Europe: Phylogenetic relationships of the freshwater fish genus Rhodeus in Europe and the phylogenetic position of R. sericeus from the River Amur.
TL;DR: The authors' analyses revealed five monophyletic clades which correspond to four species: R. sericeus in the Amur basin, R. meridionalis in the River Vardar,R.
