Antimicrobial alkaloids from Zanthoxylum tetraspermum and caudatum.

TL;DR: Two benzophenanthrene alkaloids were isolated from Zanthoxylum tetraspermum stem bark along with liriodenine, sesamin, lichexanthone and (+)-piperitol-gamma,gamma-dimethylallylether, showing significant antibacterial activity and significant insecticidal activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Two new lactones with mosquito larvicidal activity from three Hortonia species.

TL;DR: The structures of the butenolides 1 and 2, isolated from the endemic plants Hortonia floribunda, H. angustifolia, and H. ovalifolia collected in Sri Lanka, have been elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and exhibited potent mosquito larvicidal activity against the second instar larvae of Aedes aegypti.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glycomaurin and Glycomaurrol, New Carbazole Alkaloids From Glycosmis mauritiana (Rutaceae) Bark

TL;DR: The stem bark of Glycosmis mauritiana contained the acridone alkaloids noracronycine and des-N-methylacronymine, and two new carbazole alkaloid, 3,3,10-trimethyl-3,7-dihydropyrano[2,3-c] carbazoles (glycomaurin) and 6-methyl-4-(3′-methylbut-2′-enyl)carbazol-3-ol ( Glycomaurrol), whose

Gleinene and gleinadiene, 5,7-dimethoxycoumarins from Murraya gleinei root

TL;DR: The Murraya gleinei root contained two new coumarins, 5,7-dimethoxy-8-(3′-methylbutan-1′, 3′-dienyl)coumarin (gleinadiene) and 5, 7-dimethylmethylbut-1´-enyl) coumarin(gleinene), together with eleven other sesquiterpenoids and six fatty acids as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

2,3-Dimethoxyxanthone from Hypericum mysorense☆

TL;DR: Presence of simple xanthones in this genus supports the classification of Hypericum in the subfamily Hypericoideae in Guttiferae.
