Journal ArticleDOI
Results of viscobubble deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty after failure of pneumatic dissection
Vincenzo Scorcia,Valentina De Luca,Andrea Lucisano,Adriano Carnevali,Giovanna Carnovale Scalzo,Cristina Bovone,Massimo Busin +6 more
TL;DR: Intrastromal injection of OVD after failed pneumatic dissection increases considerably the success rate of bubble formation, however, when bubble formation fails, infiltration of OVM into the residual stroma makes manual dissection particularly challenging and causes severe interface haze resulting in poor visual outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combined wedge resection and beveled penetrating relaxing incisions for the treatment of pellucid marginal corneal degeneration.
TL;DR: Corneal wedge resection combined with paired, opposed clear corneal penetrating relaxing incisions is a suitable surgical option for the treatment of PMCD, providing early adequate astigmatic control with long-term stability.
Journal ArticleDOI
Longitudinal Analysis of Infrared Meibography in Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.
Federico Bernabei,Piera Versura,Marco Pellegrini,Fabiana Moscardelli,Francesca Bonifazi,Mariarosaria Sessa,Mario Arpinati,Vincenzo Scorcia,Giuseppe Giannaccare +8 more
TL;DR: MG function, loss, and quality significantly worsened after HSCT, and myeloablative conditioning regimen was associated with higher MGL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deep Trephination Allows High Rates of Successful Pneumatic Dissection for DALK Independent of Surgical Experience.
James Myerscough,Cristina Bovone,Vincenzo Scorcia,Benedetta Azzurra Ricci-Filipovic,Pia Leon,Michael Mimouni,Yoav Nahum,Yoav Nahum,Massimo Busin +8 more
TL;DR: The standardized DALK technique using a deep trephination allows high success rates of pneumatic dissection even for surgeons inexperienced in keratoplasty, and correlated with surgical experience.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of corneal densitometry between big-bubble and visco-bubble deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty
Vincenzo Scorcia,Valentina De Luca,Andrea Lucisano,D Bruzzichessi,Marco Balestrieri,Mauro Soda,James Myerscough,Massimo Busin +7 more
TL;DR: The use of viscoelastic substance in the VB-DALK technique may induce modification of interface stromal reflectivity resulting in reduced visual acuity up to 3 months postoperatively, but this initial negative effect on the interface quality does not affect the long-term visual outcome.
