Late-time growth rate, mixing, and anisotropy in the multimode narrowband Richtmyer–Meshkov instability: The θ-group collaboration
Ben Thornber,J. Griffond,Olivier Poujade,Nitesh Attal,Hilda Varshochi,Pedram Bigdelou,Praveen Ramaprabhu,Britton J. Olson,Jeffrey Greenough,Ye Zhou,Oleg Schilling,K. A. Garside,R. J. R. Williams,C. A. Batha,P. A. Kuchugov,P. A. Kuchugov,Marina Eugenievna Ladonkina,Vladimir Fedorovich Tishkin,N. V. Zmitrenko,Vladislav B Rozanov,David L. Youngs +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of high-resolution three-dimensional simulations of two initial conditions with eight independent codes is presented, where the simulations are initialised with a narrowband perturbation such that instability growth is due to nonlinear coupling/backscatter from the energetic modes, thus generating the lowest expected growth rate from a pure RMI.
Journal ArticleDOI
ESCAPE OF α PARTICLES FROM A LASER-PULSE-INITIATED THERMONUCLEAR REACTION
TL;DR: In this article, a theoretical analysis of the escape of α particles generated in the synthesis of deuterium and tritium in a spherical plasma heated to a high temperature by laser radiation is made.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laser interactions with plastic foam—metallic foil layered targets
Jiri Limpouch,N. N. Demchenko,S. Yu. Gus’kov,Milan Kalal,A. Kasperczuk,V. N. Kondrashov,E. Krouský,Karel Masek,P. Pisarczyk,T. Pisarczyk,Vladislav B Rozanov +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an x-ray streak camera was used for the evaluation of the speed of energy transfer through the porous foam material and the acceleration of Al foils by the pressure of heated foam matter was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction of a high-power laser beam with low-density porous media
A. E. Bugrov,S. Yu. Gus’kov,Vladislav B Rozanov,I. N. Burdonskii,V. V. Gavrilov,A. Yu. Gol'tsov,E. V. Zhuzhukalo,N. G. Koval’skii,M. I. Pergament,V. M. Petryakov +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the processes of laser light absorption and energy transfer in porous targets made of "agar-agar" (C14H18O7) with an average density of 1-4 mg/cm3 illuminated by the focused beam of a neodymium laser with an intensity of 1014 W/cm2 within a pulse of duration 2.5 ns.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction of laser radiation with a porous medium and formation of a nonequilibrium plasma
TL;DR: In this paper, a theory of the interaction of a powerful laser radiation pulse with a low-density porous material is proposed, and it is shown that internal evaporation of the solid components of such a material into the surrounding cavities of the medium leads to interesting features, such as formation of a region of radiation absorption under conditions of increasing geometric opacity of the material, volume absorption of laser radiation in the material of density higher than the critical plasma density.
