SmartAQnet: remote and in-situ sensing of urban air quality

TL;DR: The project “SmartAQnet”, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), is based on a pragmatic, data driven approach, which for the first time combines existing data sets with a networked mobile measurement strategy in the urban space.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-Resolution Assessment of Air Quality in Urban Areas—A Business Model Perspective

TL;DR: This paper discusses the logical inclusion of lower-cost air quality sensors into the existing air quality network via a dynamic field calibration process, the resulting sustainable business models, and how this expansion can be self-funded.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Assessment of three-dimensional, fine-granular measurement of particulate matter by a smart air quality network in urban area

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used ground-based remote sensing by three ceilometers for mixing layer height detection over Augsburg as well as a Radio- PsyNetAcoustic Sounding System (RASS) for temperature and wind profile measurements at the campus of Augsburg University to monitor the three-dimensional dynamics of the lower atmosphere.
