Observation of Jψ(3100) Production by 209-GeV Muons
A. R. Clark,K. J. Johnson,L. T. Kerth,S. C. Loken,T. W. Markiewicz,P. D. Meyers,W. H. Smith,M. Strovink,William A. Wenzel,R. P. Johnson,C. D. Moore,M. Mugge,R. E. Shafer,George D Gollin,F. C. Shoemaker,P. Surko +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of 209-GeV muons within a magnetized-steel calorimeter have produced 1000 × 1000 pairs of virtual photons from 3100$ decay, and the cross section for the production by virtual photons was found to rise less steeply with energy than predicted by a quantum chromodynamics calculation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross-section measurements for charm production by 209-GeV muons
Allan G Clark,K. J. Johnson,L. T. Kerth,S. C. Loken,T. W. Markiewicz,P. D. Meyers,W. H. Smith,M. Strovink,W. A. Wenzel,R. P. Johnson,C.D. Moore,M. Mugge,R. E. Shafer,George D Gollin,George D Gollin,F. C. Shoemaker,P. Surko,P. Surko +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of diffractive charm muoproduction on photon-nucleon total cross-sections was investigated and it was shown that the effective cross-section for 178(100)-GeV photons is 750{sup +180}{sub-130} (560{sup+200}{sub -130}) nb.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of the charm structure function and its role in scale noninvariance
Allan G Clark,K. J. Johnson,L. T. Kerth,S. C. Loken,T. W. Markiewicz,P. D. Meyers,W. H. Smith,M. Strovink,W. A. Wenzel,R. P. Johnson,C.D. Moore,M. Mugge,R. E. Shafer,George D Gollin,George D Gollin,F. C. Shoemaker,P. Surko,P. Surko +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the structure function F/sub 2/(cc-bar) for diffractive charmed-quark pair production by 209-GeV muons is obtained. But the dependence of the Q/sup 2/ dependence peaks at lower Q/Sup 2/
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of the nucleon structure function in iron using 215- and 93-GeV muons
P. D. Meyers,Allan G Clark,K. J. Johnson,L. T. Kerth,S. C. Loken,T. W. Markiewicz,W. H. Smith,M. Strovink,W. A. Wenzel,R. P. Johnson,C.D. Moore,M. Mugge,R. E. Shafer,George D Gollin,F. C. Shoemaker,P. Surko +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the inclusive deep-inelastic scattering of muons on nucleons in iron using beams of 93- and 215-GeV muons and used the known form of the radiatively corrected electromagnetic cross section to extract the structure function with a typical precision of 2% over the range 5

TL;DR: Using a lowest-order QCD calculation, a best-fit value is found of ..lambda../sub LO/ = 230 +- 40/sup stat/ +- 80/sup syst/.
