Derivation of the formyl-group oxygen of chlorophyll b from molecular oxygen in greening leaves of a higher plant (Zea mays)

TL;DR: Using mass spectroscopy, as much as 93% enrichment of the 7‐formyl group oxygen of chlorophyll b is demonstrated when dark‐grown, etiolated maize leaves are greened under white light in the presence of 18O2, suggesting that a mono‐oxygenase is involved in the oxidation of its methyl group precursor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bacteriochlorophylls modified at position C-3: long-range intramolecular interaction with position C-132

TL;DR: In this paper, the possible role of enol(ate) formation in (bacterio)chlorophylls in nature is discussed, and it is shown that the reactivity at C-3 is strongly influenced by the C-13 2 substituent and vice versa.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of methylpheophorbide-rci*

TL;DR: In this paper, the methanolic extract of the cyanobacterium (blue-green alga) Spirulina geitleri has been treated with methylpheophorbides to convert all chlorophyllous pigments to their methylphephorbides.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bacteriochlorophylls modified at position C-3

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of enol(ate) formation in (bacterio)chlorophylls in nature is discussed, and it is shown that the reactivity at C-3 is strongly influenced by the C-132 substituent, and vice versa.
