A hybrid image coding scheme using CVQ and DCT

TL;DR: The authors describe a hybrid image coding scheme called the classified hybrid image coder (CHIC), which combines the classified vector quantization (CVQ) and the discrete cosine transform (DCT) coding schemes to achieve a better performance than would be possible if they were to be used separately.
Journal ArticleDOI

Towards a Fair and Efficient Packet Scheduling Scheme in Inter-Flow Network Coding

TL;DR: This paper first formulate a static scheduling problem and proposes an algorithm to find the optimal scheduling scheme, and extends the technique to a dynamic setting and to practical routing protocols, showing that the algorithm is comparatively scalable and it can improve the throughput gain when the network is not severely saturated.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Sensor Traffic Patterns in Target Tracking Networks

TL;DR: This work investigates one class of sensor networks for a target tracking application using realistic sensing models and a general target motion model and results show that the probability of arrivals for a tracking sensor network fits a quadratic curve.
Journal ArticleDOI

When Ambient Intelligence meets the Internet: User Module framework and its applications

TL;DR: This work proposes to explicitly take the end-user into account by defining a new functional module called the User Module across the layers of the Internet protocol stack, and presents two exemplary User Module applications addressing the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).
Proceedings Article

Displacement estimation for different gait patterns in micro-sensor motion capture

TL;DR: In this article, a complementary Kalman filter (CKF) was used to compensate the orientation, velocity and position errors of the Inertial Navigation system (INS) solutions through its error state vector.
