Numerical investigation on the unsteady characteristics of reactor coolant pumps with non-uniform inflow

TL;DR: In this paper, the inlet and outlet pressure pulsation characteristics of a nuclear reactor coolant pump with different inflows were investigated using the CFD approach, and the results showed that the non-uniform inflow leads to an offset of the X radial force and the Y radial force, which leads to the increasing of the asymmetric degrees of radial force.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical and experimental investigation on the diffuser optimization of a reactor coolant pump with orthogonal test approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the diffuser of a reactor coolant pump was optimized using an orthogonal approach with numerical simulation to improve the pump hydraulic performance, and the final design was experimentally tested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of the unstable flow phenomenon in a pump turbine

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical model based on the dynamic sliding mesh method (DSSM) is presented and used to numerically solve the 3D transient flow which is characterized by the variable rotation speed of runner.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Effect of Different Inflows on the Unsteady Hydrodynamic Characteristics of a Mixed Flow Pump

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of non-uniform inflow on radial forces are analyzed in a reactor coolant pump with different inflows, and the results of the simulation were validated with experimental data for the heads at different flow coefficients.

Test Study on Safety Features of Station Blackout Accident for Nuclear Main Pump

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the transient hydrodynamic performance of a nuclear primary pump during the period of rotational inertia in the station blackout accident, and the analysis of the test results was presented.
