Bioinspired Cell-Derived Nanovesicles versus Exosomes as Drug Delivery Systems: a Cost-Effective Alternative.
Wei Jiang Goh,Wei Jiang Goh,Shui Zou,Wei-Yi Ong,Federico Torta,Alvarez Fernandez Alexandra,Raymond M. Schiffelers,Gert Storm,Gert Storm,Jiong-Wei Wang,Jiong-Wei Wang,Bertrand Czarny,Bertrand Czarny,Giorgia Pastorin,Giorgia Pastorin +14 more
TL;DR: The first demonstration of a simple and rapid production method of CDNs using spin cups via a cell shearing approach is shown, which offers clear advantages in terms of yield and cost-effectiveness over both traditional exosomes isolation, and also existing CDNs fabrication techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iron Oxide Filled Magnetic Carbon Nanotube–Enzyme Conjugates for Recycling of Amyloglucosidase: Toward Useful Applications in Biofuel Production Process
Wei Jiang Goh,Venkata S. Makam,Jun Hu,Lifeng Kang,Minrui Zheng,Sia Lee Yoong,C.N.B. Udalagama,Giorgia Pastorin +7 more
TL;DR: These results, combined with the unique intrinsic properties of the nanotubes, pave the way for greater efficiency in carbon nanotube-enzyme bioreactors and reduced capital costs in industrial enzyme systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Doxorubicin-loaded cell-derived nanovesicles: an alternative targeted approach for anti-tumor therapy
TL;DR: It is proved that the addition of doxorubicin-loaded CDNs to the HeLa and HEK293 co-cultures showed a clear discrimination toward cancer cells at the cellular level, reinforcing the intriguing potential of CDNs as an alternative targeted strategy for anticancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
A simple method of microneedle array fabrication for transdermal drug delivery
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the microneedle arrays can be fabricated through a simple single-step process and needles were mechanically strong to penetrate skin, increasing the permeability of encapsulated drug through skin.
Journal ArticleDOI
EXOPLEXs: Chimeric Drug Delivery Platform from the Fusion of Cell-Derived Nanovesicles and Liposomes.
Wei Jiang Goh,Wei Jiang Goh,Shui Zou,Choon Keong Lee,Yi-Hsuan Ou,Jiong-Wei Wang,Jiong-Wei Wang,Bertrand Czarny,Giorgia Pastorin,Giorgia Pastorin +9 more
TL;DR: The preservation of cell membranes from precursor cells similarly to CDNs are reported, as well as high loading efficiencies of more than 65% with doxorubicin hydrochloride, a model chemotherapeutic drug, which illustrates the potential of EXOPLEXs as a novel DDS for targeted delivery of Chemotherapeutics.
