Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of virulence factors and expression of specific genes between uropathogenic Escherichia coli and avian pathogenic E. coli in a murine urinary tract infection model and a chicken challenge model.

TL;DR: The transcriptional profile of virulence genes among APEC and UPEC in vivo was compared and it was found that in the same model (murine UTI or chicken challenge), various genes of UPEC U17 and APEC E058 showed a similar tendency of expression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prevalence of Virulence Factors and Antimicrobial Resistance of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli in Jiangsu Province (China)

TL;DR: Cefotaxime-, cefoxitin-, chloramphenicol-, and nitrofurantoin-resistant isolates have a reduced virulence factor genes compared with susceptible strains and empiric treatment of urinary tract infections with all the antibiotics tested is no longer appropriate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Virulence traits and pathogenicity of uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolates with common and uncommon O serotypes.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the virulence of UPEC isolates for chicks and/or mice depended on both the number of VGs expressed and the O serotypes.
