Numerical analyses of the residual stress and top coat cracking behavior in thermal barrier coatings under cyclic thermal loading

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of thermally grown oxide swelling, creep, and interfacial roughness were taken into account, and the effect of the interfacial cracking on top coat cracking and their mutual interaction were investigated using the cohesive zone model.
Journal ArticleDOI

CMAS penetration-induced cracking behavior in the ceramic top coat of APS TBCs

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-dimensional periodical model considering the microstructures in ceramic top coat (TC) is built to study the cracking behavior in the TC of APS TBCs penetrated by CMAS during the cooling process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical Analysis of Leakage Flow Through Two Labyrinth Seals

TL;DR: In this article, the leakage flow through two labyrinth seals, e.g. the interlocking seal and the stepped seal, was numerically investigated, and in-depth understanding of the fluid flow through the labyrinth seals was obtained by employing Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and k − ǫ turbulence model, which resulted in a potential wealth of information like the streamline pattern, velocity vector field, and distribution of turbulent kinetic energy and static pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical stress analysis of the TBC-film cooling system under operating conditions considering the effects of thermal gradient and TGO growth

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical study of the thermal-mechanical behavior of the TBC-film cooling system under operating conditions was conducted, and the effect of radiation heat transfer was considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of internal oxidation on the interfacial morphology and residual stress in air plasma sprayed thermal barrier coatings

TL;DR: In this article, the role of the internal oxides in interfacial morphology and residual stress was investigated in air plasma sprayed (APS) thermal barrier coating (TBC) samples with double-layered HVOF NiCoCrAlY bond coats.
