Intensified oceanic circulation during Early Carboniferous cooling events: Evidence from carbon and nitrogen isotopes

TL;DR: In this article, the carbon and nitrogen isotope profiles of two widely separated Lower Carboniferous sections (Arrow Canyon Range, Nevada, and Namur-Dinant Basin, Belgium) were generated to assess the global nature and timing of changes in the carbon-nitrogen cycles linked to oceanic productivity and redox conditions during this climatic transition interval.
Journal ArticleDOI

Latest Devonian to earliest Carboniferous conodont and carbon isotope stratigraphy of a shallow-water sequence in South China

TL;DR: The Tangbagou Formation is a succession of mixed carbonate-siliciclastic rocks that accumulated on a shallow-water platform under normal marine conditions and has been used to improve regional and intercontinental correlation of the uppermost Devonian-lowermost Carboniferous.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pragian and lower Emsian (Lower Devonian) conodonts from Liujing, Guangxi, South China

TL;DR: In this paper, Lu et al. described lower Devonian conodonts from the Liujing section in Guangxi, South China, highlighting the phylogeny of early polygnathids and establishing the basis for faunal correlations with deposits throughout the world.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mercury isotope evidence for regional volcanism during the Frasnian-Famennian transition

TL;DR: In this paper , high-resolution Hg concentration data for four UKW-FFB sections (Walnut Creek and Dupont-GHS in the U.S.A., and Yangdi and Nandong in South China) and Hg isotope data for two of them were used to test the geographic distribution and stratigraphic range of volcanic inputs during the Frasnian-Famennian transition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Middle Viséan (Mississippian) coral biostrome in central Guizhou, southwestern China and its palaeoclimatological implications

TL;DR: A middle Visean coral biostrome is reported for the first time from the Shangsi Formation in Yashui area, central Guizhou Province, southwestern China (palaeogeographically located in eastern Palaeotethys) as discussed by the authors.
