Potential Drifts of Solid-Contacted Ion-Selective Electrodes Due to Zero-Current Ion Fluxes Through the Sensor Membrane

TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of an inner aqueous film and corresponding drifts for solid-contacted membrane electrodes can be avoided by creating a lipophilic self-assembled monolayer on the surface of the inner electrode.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lifetime of neutral-carrier-based liquid membranes in aqueous samples and blood and the lipophilicity of membrane components.

TL;DR: On the basis of previously reported correlations between the lipophilicity of membrane components, their partition coefficient between the membrane and the sample, and the lifetime of corresponding neutral-carrier-based sensors, thelipophilicities of ionophores and plasticizers in analytically relevant ion-selective electrodes, ISFETs, and optodes are analyzed and reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Design of a novel calcium-selective optode membrane based on neutral ionophores

TL;DR: A large variety of new optical ion-sensor constructions (optodes) can now be realized by using a poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane that incorporates a cation-selective neutral ionophore, a specially tailored H + -selectiveneutral chromoionophores, and lipophilic anionic sites in the same plasticized PVC membrane.
