Journal ArticleDOI

Adenosine triphosphatase from rat liver mitochondria. III. Subunit composition

TL;DR: Preparations of mitochondrial ATPase from rat liver mitochondria contain five classes of polypeptide chains, designated subunits A, B, and C, which comprise approximately 97% of the mass of the enzyme preparation and are present in the enzyme complex in the stoichiometry A3B3C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of phosphotungstic acid and silicotungstic acid on respiration and integrity of rat liver mitochondria.

TL;DR: The results clearly show that PTA and STA are not biochemically inert and probably have more than a single mitochondrial site of action.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contribution of ATP synthesis from endogenous substrates to the oligomycin-sensitive ADP-ATP exchange activity of rat liver mitoplasts.

TL;DR: It is concluded that net ATP synthesis supported by oxidation of endogenous substrates accounts for only a small fraction of the total 14 C-ATP formed in the ADP- ATP exchange assay and that the bulk of this activity is catalyzed independently by the terminal reactions of oxidative phosphorylation.
