TL;DR: The authors of this letter agree whole heartedly with Drs Goebel and Molloy that further research around the use of the terms primary and secondary pain is essential to inform clinical practice and that these terms in guidelines must be with caution until there is an agreement on the causative relationship and mechanisms.
