Numerical simulation of gurney flaps lift-enhancement on a low reynolds number airfoil

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of Gurney flaps on the aerodynamic performance of a low Reynolds number airfoil was investigated and it was shown that Gurny flaps can enhance not only the prestall lift but also lift-to-drag ratio in a certain range of angles of attack.

Regularities between kinematic and aerodynamic characteristics of flexible membrane wing

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the lift-enhancement mechanism of membrane vibration and found that the maximum vibration amplitude and root mean square of vibration velocity present positive and linear correlation with different slopes, and their chordwise locations are basically consistent.

Aerodynamics and fluid–structure interaction of an airfoil with actively controlled flexible leeward surface

TL;DR: In this article , a piezoelectric MFC actuator is employed onto the flexible leeward surface of an airfoil for active control, which can achieve liftenhancement and drag reduction simultaneously in the angle of attack range of 10° ≤ α ≤ 14°.
