Journal ArticleDOI

Cycloartane glycosides from Sutherlandia frutescens.

TL;DR: Four new cycloartane glycosides, sutherlandiosides A-D (1-4), were isolated from the South African folk medicine Sutherlandia frutescens and their structures established by spectroscopic methods and X-ray crystallography.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simultaneous determination of the absolute configuration of twelve monosaccharide enantiomers from natural products in a single injection by a UPLC-UV/MS method.

TL;DR: Among derivatives of sugar enantiomers in the current study, the stereoisomer of R- configuration at C-3' retained longer than the corresponding S-configuration isomer, suggesting that the UPLC-MS method can increase sensitivity of detection of the saccharides by more than 10 times compared to previously reported methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative determination of flavonoids and cycloartanol glycosides from aerial parts of Sutherlandia frutescens (L.) R. BR. by using LC-UV/ELSD methods and confirmation by using LC-MS method.

TL;DR: This paper describes the first analytical method for the determination of four flavonoids and four cycloartanol glycosides from the aerial parts of Sutherlandia frutescens by using the use of the [M+H](+) and [M-Na](+) ions in the positive ion mode with extractive ion monitoring (EIM).
Journal ArticleDOI

Flavonol Glycosides from the South African Medicinal Plant Sutherlandia frutescens

TL;DR: Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Sutherlandia frutescens led to the isolation of four new 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaroyl-containing flavonol glycosides, sutherlandins A-D, which were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
