Journal ArticleDOI
The lower positive charge center and its effect on lightning discharges on the Tibetan Plateau
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the electrical characteristics of a representative storm on the central Tibetan Plateau at an altitude of 4508 m and revealed a tripole charge structure with a larger-than-usual lower positive charge center (LPCC).
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive Pattern of Deep Convective Systems over the Tibetan Plateau–South Asian Monsoon Region Based on TRMM Data
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the diurnal and seasonal variation, intensity, and structure of deep convective systems (DCSs) over the Tibetan Plateau-South Asian monsoon region from the Tibetan plateau (TP) to the ocean using 14 yr of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simultaneously measured current, luminosity, and electric field pulses in a rocket‐triggered lightning flash
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the current, luminosity, and electric field pulses in a rocket-triggered negative lightning flash based on the channel base current, high-speed video images, and the electric field changes at 30 m from the channel.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characteristics of downward leader in a positive cloud-to-ground lightning flash observed by high-speed video camera and electric field changes
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the positive leader process and the intracloud discharge process before the return stroke, which lasted about 600 ms, by combining the data from fast and slow antenna.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lightning activities on the Tibetan Plateau as observed by the lightning imaging sensor
TL;DR: In this article, a nonlinear relationship between lightning activity and monthly averaged convective available potential energy (CAPE) on the Tibetan Plateau is found, and the flash number per CAPE is much larger than it is for other regions with prominent lightning activity (but low altitude).
