TOPEX/POSEIDON mission overview
Lee-Lueng Fu,Edward J. Christensen,Charles A. Yamarone,Michel Lefebvre,Y. Menard,Michel Dorrer,Phillippe Escudier +6 more
TL;DR: The TOPEX/POSEIDON satellite as mentioned in this paper is the first space mission specifically designed and conducted for studying the circulation of the world's oceans and has been making observations of the global oceans with unprecedented accuracy since late September 1992.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Jason-1 Mission Special Issue: Jason-1 Calibration/Validation
Y. Menard,Lee-Lueng Fu,P. Escudier,F. Parisot,J. Perbos,P. Vincent,S. Desai,Bruce Haines,G. Kunstmann +8 more
TL;DR: The Jason-1 satellite was successfully launched by a Boeing Delta II rocket from the Vandenberg site in California, USA on December 7, 2001 as discussed by the authors, and its main mission was to maintain the high accuracy altimeter measurements, provided since 1992 by TOPEX/Poseidon (T/P), ensuring continuity in observing and monitoring the ocean for intraseasonal to interannual changes, mean sea level, tides, and so forth.
Absolute calibration of Jason-1 and TOPEX/Poseidon altimeters in Corsica
P. Bonnefond,P. Exertier,O. Laurain,J. Nicolas,Y. Menard,A. Orsoni,E. Jeansou,Gwenaële Jan,Bruce Haines +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Exploiting the potential of an improved multimission altimetric data set over the coastal ocean
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a multi-mission data set at a mean distance of 32 km of the coast to monitor the coastal ocean and compared with sea level data from three in situ stations over a coastal zone of the northwestern Mediterranean.
Journal ArticleDOI
Absolute Calibration of Jason-1 and TOPEX/Poseidon Altimeters in Corsica Special Issue: Jason-1 Calibration/Validation
TL;DR: The double geodetic Corsica site, which includes Ajaccio-Aspretto and Cape Senetosa, has been chosen to permit the absolute calibration of radar altimeters as discussed by the authors.
