Stable surface solitons in truncated complex potentials
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that surface solitons in the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equation with truncated complex periodic potential can be stabilized by linear homogeneous losses, which are necessary to balance gain in the near-surface channel arising from the imaginary part of potential.
Observation of nonlinear disclination states
Boquan Ren,A. Arkhipova,Yiqi Zhang,Yaroslav V. Kartashov,Hongguang Wang,S. A. Zhuravitskii,Nikolay Skryabin,I. V. Dyakonov,A. A. Kalinkin,S. Kulik,V. O. Kompanets,Sergey V. Chekalin,Victor N. Zadkov +12 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors show that the robust nonlinear photonic disclination states bifurcate from their linear counterparts and that location of their propagation constants in the gap can be controlled by their power.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Dynamics of Light Bullets in two-dimensional arrays of waveguides
Stefano Minardi,Falk Eilenberger,Yaroslav V. Kartashov,Alexander Szameit,U. Ropke,Jens Kobelke,Kay Schuster,Hartmut Bartelt,Lluis Torner,Stefan Nolte,Andreas Tünnermann,Falk Lederer,Thomas Pertsch +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors showed that pure homogeneous Kerr media cannot support stable light-bulb (LB) in more complex media such as arrays of evanescently coupled waveguides.

Soliton "molecules": robust clusters of light bullets
Lucian-Cornel Crasovan,Yaroslav V. Kartashov,Dumitru Mihalache,Lluis Torner,Yuri S. Kivshar,Víctor M. Pérez-García +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show how to generate robust self-sustained clusters of soliton bullets-spatiotemporal (optical or matter-wave) solitons.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Two-Dimensional Surface Lattice Solitons
Alexander Szameit,Felix Dreisow,Matthias Heinrich,Thomas Pertsch,Stefan Nolte,Andreas Tünnermann,Yaroslav V. Kartashov,Llouis Torner +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on the observation of two-dimensional surface lattice solitons in a fs laser written waveguide array and investigate the transition from linear 2D discrete diffraction to surface soliton formation.
