Dynamic simulation of spur gear with tooth root crack propagating along tooth width and crack depth

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical model is proposed to investigate the effect of gear tooth crack on the gear mesh stiffness, where both the tooth crack propagations along tooth width and crack depth are incorporated in this model to simulate gear tooth root crack, especially when it is at very early stage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mesh stiffness calculation of a spur gear pair with tooth profile modification and tooth root crack

TL;DR: In this paper, a general analytical mesh stiffness model is proposed to include the effect of the gear tooth errors, which is suitable for not only the gear pairs with low contact ratio (LCR), but also the gear pair with high contact ratio(HCR).
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic modeling for rigid rotor bearing systems with a localized defect considering additional deformations at the sharp edges

TL;DR: In this article, a new twelve-degree-of-freedom dynamic model for rigid RBSs with a localized defect (LOD) is proposed, which can formulate the housing support stiffness, interfacial frictional moments including load dependent and load independent components, time-varying displacement excitation caused by a LOD, and additional deformations at the sharp edges of the LOD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vibration analysis of ball bearings with a localized defect applying piecewise response function

TL;DR: In this paper, a dynamic simulation method is proposed to study ball bearing with local defect based on the coupling of the piecewise function and the Hertzian contact mechanism at the edge of the local defect.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrical motor current signal analysis using a modified bispectrum for fault diagnosis of downstream mechanical equipment

TL;DR: In this paper, a modified bispectrum based on the amplitude modulation feature of the current signal is adopted to combine both lower sidebands and higher sidebands simultaneously and hence characterise the current signals more accurately.
