Journal ArticleDOI

Utilization of various fruit juices as carbon source for production of bacterial cellulose by Acetobacter xylinum NBRC 13693

TL;DR: Bacterial cellulose production from various fruit juices including orange, pineapple, apple, Japanese pear and grape were investigated, and the possibility of producing bacterial cellulose from those juices was suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of epoxy resins synthesized from steam-exploded bamboo lignin

TL;DR: In this paper, three types of cured epoxy resins were prepared: 1-(2-cyanoethyl)-2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole (2E4MZ-CN) and bamboo lignin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epoxy resin synthesis using low molecular weight lignin separated from various lignocellulosic materials.

TL;DR: This study indicated that the biomass-derived methanol-soluble lignin may be a promising candidate to be used as a substitute for petroleum-based epoxy resin derived from bisphenol A, while insoluble residues may be processed to give a bioethanol precursor i.e., glucose.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of fungal pretreatment and steam explosion pretreatment on enzymatic saccharification of plant biomass.

TL;DR: The effects of consecutive treatments by a lignin‐degrading fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium and by steam explosion for the enzymatic saccharification of plant biomass were studied experimentally, and the optimal operational conditions for obtaining the maximum saccharisation were evaluated.
