Journal ArticleDOI

Photovoltaic restoration of sight with high visual acuity

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that subretinal implants with 70-μm-wide photovoltaic pixels provide highly localized stimulation of retinal neurons in rats, and the ease of implantation of these wireless and modular arrays opens the door to the functional restoration of sight in patients blinded by retinal degeneration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glucose-Responsive Metal–Organic-Framework Nanoparticles Act as “Smart” Sense-and-Treat Carriers

TL;DR: The potential cytotoxicity of the NMOFs originated from the GOx-generated H2O2 is resolved by the co-immobilization of the H 2O2-scavanger catalase in the N MOFs.
Journal ArticleDOI

An implantable microfluidic device for self-monitoring of intraocular pressure

TL;DR: It is shown that microfluidic principles can be used to develop an implantable sensor that has a limit of detection of 1 mm Hg, high sensitivity and excellent reproducibility, and offers a promising approach for better care of patients with glaucoma.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical and corneal biomechanical changes after collagen cross-linking with riboflavin and UV irradiation in patients with progressive keratoconus: results after 2 years of follow-up.

TL;DR: Two years after CXL, the observation of stable UCVA, improved BCVA, and reduced keratometry suggests stabilization in progression of keratoconus, and Unchanged corneal thickness, endothelial cell density, and foveal thickness suggest the long-term safety of this procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photovoltaic retinal prosthesis: implant fabrication and performance

TL;DR: The fabricated device delivers efficient retinal stimulation at safe near-infrared light irradiances without any wired power connections, which greatly simplifies the implantation procedure.
