Organic materials that exhibit thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) are an attractive class of functional materials that have witnessed a booming development in recent years. Since Adachi et al. reported high-performance TADF-OLED devices in 2012, there have been many reports regarding the design and synthesis of new TADF luminogens, which have various molecular structures and are used for different applications. In this review, we summarize and discuss the latest progress concerning this rapidly developing research field, in which the majority of the reported TADF systems are discussed, along with their derived structure–property relationships, TADF mechanisms and applications. We hope that such a review provides a clear outlook of these novel functional materials for a broad range of scientists within different disciplinary areas and attracts more researchers to devote themselves to this interesting research field.

In this paper, a new true random number generator (TRNG), based entirely on digital components is proposed. The design has been implemented using a fast random number generation method, which is dependent on a new type of ring oscillator with the ability to be set in metastable mode. Earlier methods of random number generation involved employment of jitter, whereas the proposed method leverages the metastability phenomenon in digital circuits and applies it to a ring oscillator. The new entropy employment method allows an increase in the TRNG throughput by significantly reducing the required entropy accumulating time. Samples obtained from simulation of TRNG design have been evaluated using AIS.31 and FIPS 140-1/2 statistical tests. The results of these tests have proven the high quality of generated data. Corners analysis of the TRNG design was also performed to estimate the robustness to technology process and environment variations. Investigated in FPGA technology, phase distribution highlighted the advantages of the proposed method over traditional architectures.

Fast Digital TRNG Based on Metastable Ring Oscillator

The dynamic characteristics of metal transfer in the pulsed current gas metal arc welding are analysed using the volume of fluid method incorporating the electromagnetic force. The surface profile and the velocity distribution of fluid in the drop are computed numerically. The viscous flow and inertial force of a molten metal generated by the peak current are found to have significant effects on the metal transfer and drop detachment. The ranges of the pulsing frequency for which one drop is detached per current pulse are predicted and calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental data with some discrepancy for low load duty cycles.

The dynamic analysis of metal transfer in pulsed current gas metal arc welding

In most ferroelectrics, the domain nucleation barrier (${U}^{*}$) is thermally insurmountable; this is called ``Landauer's paradox.'' However, we showed that, in ultrathin films, the large depolarization fields could lower ${U}^{*}$ to a level comparable to thermal energy (${k}_{B}T$), resulting in power-law decay of polarization. We empirically found a universal relation between the power-law decay exponent and ${U}^{*}/{k}_{B}T$. This relation will provide a practical but fundamental limit for capacitor-type ferroelectric devices, analogous to the superparamagnetic limit for magnetic memory devices.
