Journal ArticleDOI
Comparing the MicroRNA spectrum between serum and plasma.
TL;DR: The difference between serum and plasma miRNA concentration showed some associations with miRNA from platelets, which may indicate that the coagulation process may affect the spectrum of extracellular miRNA in blood.
Journal ArticleDOI
The complex exogenous RNA spectra in human plasma: an interface with human gut biota?
Kai Wang,Hong Li,Yue Yuan,Alton Etheridge,Yong Zhou,David Huang,Paul Wilmes,David J. Galas,David J. Galas +8 more
TL;DR: The possibility that plasma RNAs of exogenous origin may serve as signaling molecules mediating for example the human-microbiome interaction and may affect and/or indicate the state of human health is raised.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Spectrum of Circulating RNA: A Window into Systems Toxicology
Kai Wang,Yue Yuan,Hong Li,Ji-Hoon Cho,David Huang,Li Gray,Shizhen Qin,David J. Galas,David J. Galas +8 more
TL;DR: This study illustrates the possibility of using circulating RNAs to assess global effects of therapeutics by conducting an RNA profiling study using the well-characterized acetaminophen overdose mouse model on liver and plasma with microarray and next-generation sequencing platforms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of Organ-Enriched Protein Biomarkers of Acute Liver Injury by Targeted Quantitative Proteomics of Blood in Acetaminophen- and Carbon-Tetrachloride-Treated Mouse Models and Acetaminophen Overdose Patients
Shizhen Qin,Yong Zhou,Li Gray,Ulrike Kusebauch,Laurence McEvoy,Daniel J. Antoine,Lucy Hampson,Kevin Park,David S. Campbell,Juan Caballero,Gustavo Glusman,Xiaowei Yan,Taek Kyun Kim,Yue Yuan,Kai Wang,Lee Rowen,Robert L. Moritz,Gilbert S. Omenn,Gilbert S. Omenn,Munir Pirmohamed,Leroy Hood +20 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that quantification of organ-enriched proteins in the blood offers a new strategy to find biomarkers for diagnosis and assessment of drug-induced liver injury (and presumably the assessment of other liver diseases).
Journal ArticleDOI
A genetic approach to the prediction of drug side effects: bleomycin induces concordant phenotypes in mice of the collaborative cross.
Richard Gelinas,Elissa J. Chesler,Daphne Vasconcelos,Darla R. Miller,Yue Yuan,Kai Wang,David J. Galas +6 more
TL;DR: The results showed that, as in humans, the lines that comprise the Collaborative Cross exhibited wide genetic variation in response to this drug, which suggests that the genetically diverse collaborative Cross animals may reveal drug effects that might be missed if a study were based on a conventional mouse strain.
