Face recognition presents a challenging problem in the field of image analysis and computer vision, and as such has received a great deal of attention over the last few years because of its many applications in various domains. Face recognition techniques can be broadly divided into three categories based on the face data acquisition methodology: methods that operate on intensity images; those that deal with video sequences; and those that require other sensory data such as 3D information or infra-red imagery. In this paper, an overview of some of the well-known methods in each of these categories is provided and some of the benefits and drawbacks of the schemes mentioned therein are examined. Furthermore, a discussion outlining the incentive for using face recognition, the applications of this technology, and some of the difficulties plaguing current systems with regard to this task has also been provided. This paper also mentions some of the most recent algorithms developed for this purpose and attempts to give an idea of the state of the art of face recognition technology.

Toward Perceptive Soft Robots: Progress and Challenges

Relevance to nursing care The evidence available regarding vitamin D on mortality has been inconclusive. Vitamin D can be obtained from sun exposure on skin, dietary intake, or supplementation as vitamin D3 or D2. Proper balance of vitamin D and calcium levels are important for healthy bones. Past studies have indicated that vitamin D supplementation prevents osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and fractures. Contradictory studies suggest that vitamin D may prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, and affect mortality; and observational research has indicated a relationship of low vitamin D levels and risk of mortality. Evidence related to vitamin D is important for nurses working with patients with and without vitamin D insufficiency. The value of vitamin D needs clarification, and health information about risk factors, common problems with deficiency, as well as the benefits and proper use of vitamin D supplementation are needed by patients and caregivers. The purpose of this systematic review was to assess the beneficial and harmful effects of vitamin D supplementation on the prevention of mortality in healthy adults and in adults with a stable form of disease.

Vitamin D supplementation for prevention of mortality in adults

Soft robotics is of growing interest in the robot community as well as in public media, and there is an increase in the quality and quantity of publications related to this topic. To formally elaborate this growth, we have used a bibliometric analysis to evaluate the publications in the field from 1990 to 2017 based on the Science Citation Index Expanded database. We present a detailed overview and discussion based on keywords, citation, h-index, year, journal, institution, country, author, and review articles. The results show that the United States takes the leading position in this research field, followed by China and Italy. Harvard University has the most publications, high average number of citations per publication and the highest h-index. IEEE Transactions on Robotics ranks first among the top 20 academic journals publishing articles related to this field, whereas Soft Robotics holds the top position in journals categorized with "ROBOTICS." Actuator, fabrication, control, material, sensing, simulation, bionics, stiffness, modeling, power, motion, and application are the hot topics of soft robotics. Smart materials, bionics, morphological computation, and embodiment control are expected to contribute to this field in the future. Application and commercialization appear to be the initial driving force and final goal for soft robots.

Soft Robotics: Academic Insights and Perspectives Through Bibliometric Analysis.

Since the first robotic exoskeleton was developed in 1960, this research field has attracted much interest from both the academic and industrial communities resulting in scientific publications, prototype developments and commercialized products. In this article, to document the progress in and current status of this field, we performed a bibliometric analysis. This analysis evaluated the publications in the field of robotic exoskeletons from 1990 to July 2019 that were retrieved from the Science Citation Index Expanded database. The bibliometric analyses were presented in terms of author keywords, year, country, institution, journal, author, and the citation. Results show that currently the United States has taken the leading position in this field and has built the largest collaborative network with other countries. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) made the greatest contribution to the field of robotic exoskeleton investigations in terms of the number of publications, average citations per publication and the h-index. In addition, the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation ranks first among the top 20 academic journals in terms of the number of publications related to robotic exoskeletons during the period investigated. Author keyword analysis indicates that most research has focused on rehabilitation robotics. Biomedical engineering, rehabilitation and the neurosciences are the most common disciplines conducting research in this area according to the Web of Science (WoS). Our study comprehensively assesses the current research status and collaboration network of robotic exoskeletons, thus helping researchers steer their projects or locate potential collaborators.

The 100 most-cited articles in urological surgery: A bibliometric analysis

This study aims to summarize an overview of Chinese energy and fuels research using comprehensive bibliometric analysis measures based on data extracted from the Science Citation Index Expanded database from 1993 to 2012. Keyword analysis was used to assess and evaluate the priorities, topics and topic shifts using the Thomson Data Analyzer (TDA). In particular, popular topics were demonstrated using bubble charts. The results show that solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), lithium-ion batteries and hydrogen were the most important topics. The priorities of energy and fuels research in China were hydrogen and fuel cells, lithium-ion batteries, biodiesel and biomass, coal, and solar energy, respectively. Of course, lithium-ion batteries have entered substantive application stages in China in 2012. The hydrogen economy has been formed. Biomass and biodiesel research was the popular topic, as well as hydrogen and fuel cells, lithium-ion batteries. But solar energy was not still “hot”. The characteristics of the types of documents, languages, year, journals, institutions and co-publishing countries were analyzed, as well as the keyword occurrence frequencies. It can be stated that 19,089 articles by Chinese authors were published in 106 journals. More than one-third of the articles were published in the Journal of Power Sources, the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and Bioresource Technology. The Chinese Academy of Science, Tsinghua University, China University of Petroleum, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zhejiang University were the top five institutions. The USA was the leading inter-collaborative country, followed by Japan, the UK and Canada. The findings presented here provide an overall picture of the development of Chinese energy and fuels research and could also help policy makers assess the impact of the resource allocation decisions made in the past to develop energy policies and strategies for the future.
