TL;DR: In this article, functionalized carbon black (FCB) particles with sulfonic acid substituents were prepared and used as fillers to obtain advanced SPEEK composite membranes, which showed outstanding ion selectivity, low vanadium permeability, high proton conductivity and excellent stability.
