Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular dissection of dual pseudosymmetric solute translocation pathways in human P-glycoprotein.
Zahida Parveen,Thomas Stockner,Caterina Bentele,S. Pferschy,Martin Kraupp,Michael Freissmuth,Gerhard F. Ecker,Peter Chiba +7 more
TL;DR: The existence of two solute translocation pathways in P-gp as a reflection of evolutionary origin from a homodimeric ancestor and selective but not exclusive use of one of these pathways by different P- gp solutes are found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis, biological evaluation and 3D-QSAR studies of new chalcone derivatives as inhibitors of human P-glycoprotein.
TL;DR: 2D- and 3D-QSAR studies indicate the importance of H-bond acceptors, methoxy groups, hydrophobic groups as well as the number of rotatable bonds as pharmacophoric features influencing P-gp inhibitory activity.
Antihyperglycemic effects of berberis lyceum royle in alloxan induced diabetic rats
TL;DR: Various doses of extracts significantly reduced the level of hyperglycemia in both normal and alloxan induced diabetic rats, and the effects of ethanol extracts on glucose tolerance tests were significant and the hypoglycemic effects were pronounced from 30 to 180 min after treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pore-exposed tyrosine residues of P-glycoprotein are important hydrogen-bonding partners for drugs
Yaprak Dönmez Cakil,Narakorn Khunweeraphong,Zahida Parveen,Diethart Schmid,Matthias Artaker,Gerhard F. Ecker,Harald H. Sitte,Oliver Pusch,Thomas Stockner,Peter Chiba +9 more
TL;DR: The present study demonstrates the importance of domain interface tyrosine residues for interaction of small molecules with P-glycoprotein through hydrogen bonding interactions with propafenone type ligands in their preferred binding site 2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Probing the stereoselectivity of P-glycoprotein-synthesis, biological activity and ligand docking studies of a set of enantiopure benzopyrano[3,4-b][1,4]oxazines.
Ishrat Jabeen,Penpun Wetwitayaklung,Penpun Wetwitayaklung,Freya Klepsch,Zahida Parveen,Peter Chiba,Gerhard F. Ecker +6 more
TL;DR: Docking studies into a homology model of human P-gp provide first insights into potential binding areas for enantiomerically pure benzopyrano[3,4-b][1,4]oxazines.
