Burden of rabies in Mali
Zakaria Keita,Felix Gerber,Monique Léchenne,Oumar Thiero,Jan Hattendorf,Jakob Zinsstag,Jakob Zinsstag,Abdallah Traoré,Abdel Kader Traoré +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that despite the possibility of preventing human rabies by PEP, its burden remains important in Malian communities and a coordinated regional effort between countries by funding dog mass vaccination and full access to PEP can eliminate rabies in West Africa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rabies surveillance-response in Mali in the past 18 years and requirements for the future
Abdallah Traoré,Zakaria Keita,Monique Léchenne,Stephanie Mauti,Jan Hattendorf,Jakob Zinsstag,Jakob Zinsstag +6 more
TL;DR: Over the past 18 years, rabies is endemically stable in Mali despite the decrease in reported human cases, which indicates a low level of clinical and laboratory surveillance and likely a high level of underreporting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rabies burden in Côte d'Ivoire.
Vessaly Kallo,Vessaly Kallo,Zakaria Keita,Marcel Boka,Mathilde Tetchi,Komissiri Dagnogo,Max Ouattara,Djedou Martin Amalaman,Sylvain G. Traoré,Felix Gerber,Monique Léchenne,Jan Hattendorf,Katie Hampson,Rianatou Bada-Alambedji,Bassirou Bonfoh,Jakob Zinsstag +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Monte Carlo simulations of a series of interconnected probabilities were used to estimate the rabies burden in Cote d'Ivoire and the estimated annual cost of rabies is 40.15 million USD [95% CI 27.8-53.4].
Journal ArticleDOI
